About the Documentary
The 3/25 Marine Battalion lost 49 souls in Iraq during the War on Terror. For many of those who returned, the war never ended. For the wives of those who survived, their home has become the battle field.

Blood Stripe, A Spouse's Story honors spouses living with and caring for our Veterans who suffer with TBI and PTSD. Based on the actual experiences of a combat veteran who not only lost dozens of comrades but also suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) while serving in Iraq as a member of the 3/25th Marine battalion.

Blood Stripe was originally conceived as a theatrical stage work, to give a voice to the spouses who are living with and caring for our Veterans who suffer from invisible wounds. The theatrical work follows a Marine and his wife struggling to deal with the challenges they face while attempting to find a "new normal" utilizing dance to communicate the terrors of war, expressing thoughts and feelings that words can't express. Following its successful premiere of the stage production, the idea of developing a documentary film began to take shape with the goal of delivering it’s important message to a larger audience. The film will combine original production reworked for film, with compelling interviews of Veterans and their spouses, and health professionals who council them, will be interspersed throughout the documentary.
Anticipated Date of Completion - FALL 2019
Hearts of Patriots central educational piece Blood Stripe, A Spouse’s Story is currently in the editing stages of becoming a film documentary. The documentary will provide information regarding long-term impact of war on a Marine Veteran and his wife while shedding light on the daily struggle faced by spouses who serve as caregivers and the toll stress takes on the families and children for the rest of their lives.

By reworking the original stage production for film we endeavor to use art as a cultural tool to help humanize and actualize the emotions, grievances, and fears of those who may not have another way to voice and share their concerns. More importantly,  we will provide solutions for Spouses, Partners and Families.
