PATRIOT KIDS ACTIVITY GRANT Children (ages 3-18) of PTSD combat injured Veterans, deployed and stateside activated National Guard and Reserve members and any veteran who is experiencing economic hardship are eligible to receive from Hearts of Patriots, grantsup o $300 (per eligible child) for extracurricular activities. Grants can be used to pay for a wide range of activities including athletics, music, theatre, and dance, classes, workshops and camps.
Each child between the ages of 3-18 from a qualifying family is eligible to receive annually, a $300 Grant twice a year. Funds for activity will be paid directly to the service provided. Grant does not pay for past due fees or reimburse for fees already distributed.
Acceptable Forms of Identification for Children. A) copy of the child's birth certificate if he/she is the biological child of the deployed service member, B) copyof the completed Form 1172, Application for Uniformed Services Identification (DEERS Form), or C) a copy of DEERS/MilConnect Service Member profile page with child listed as the service member’s dependent. Please take note that school tuition, daycare or mission trips are not eligible for this grant.
1. Service Member/Veteran has sustained combat-related wounds, illness, or injuries while deployed
2. Service Member/Veteran has VA PTSD rating of 30% or more

FAQ'S For Deployed National Guard and Reserve Families
1. For overseas or stateside missions of 90-179 days (cumulative within 12 months)
EACH CHILD (AGES 3-18) IS ELIGIBLE FOR ONE (1) GRANT UP TO $300 FOR ONE EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY TO START BEFORE THE SERVICE MEMBER RETURNS HOME.
. The child's parent is currently deployed overseas or activated stateside (not including AGR assignments or training) with the National Guard or Reserve for at least 90 days
2. For overseas or stateside missions of 180+ days
(CUMULATIVE WITHIN 12 MONTHS), EACH CHILD (AGES 3-18) IS ELIGIBLE FOR TWO (2) GRANTS UP TO $300 EACH FOR THE SAME OR DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES, EACH TO START BEFORE THE SERVICE MEMBER RETURNS HOME. EACH GRANT REQUIRES A SEPARATE APPLICATION
3. ACTIVATIONS FOR AGR ASSIGNMENTS OR TRAINING ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A GRANT.
