ODYSSEY PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Description
Through images, stories and reflection workshop participants create work that will be included in the Veteran Photo Exhibit ODYSSEY l Warriors Come Home at Stocker Center May 12, 2022. Camera and other materials will be provided. All you need is yourself.

This workshop offers a way of exploring the long journey home from war with others who are on the same road. Photography will be used as a tool of engagement to help veterans explore and explain the journey. By communicating complexity through the camera, they are able to express when there are no words.

Picture
The Odyssey Workshop project was founded by photojournalist Brendan Bannon. As a photographer, Bannon has covered the consequences of war and disaster. As a teacher he has worked around the world with combat veterans, refugee children, medical professionals and children affected by HIV. The traveling photo exhibit ODYSSEY / Warriors Come Home features pictures made by combat veterans. These photos explore the challenges of returning home from battle and the creative victories in response to those challenges.
